The number of applicants for a US passport has increased over the decade, and more immigrants are fast become citizens in America, thus the application for a US passport. To keep up with the incessant number of passport applications each year, so many passport agencies, centers, and even postal services have arisen.
No matter the county, or state where you reside in the US, there is always a US passport office, or center in every county and a regional passport agency in 26 states in the US.
To apply for your own passport, you need to visit a passport agency or center in your state or county. That way, it is faster to get yours, however, you will need to book an appointment before you visit.
To make an appointment, call the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778. You can do so 24 hours a day. The normal processing time takes about 4 to 6 weeks but expedited processing takes between 2-3weeks.

There are documents and other requirements that might be requested for a life and death situations: Your passport application with required documents, you will also need to provide a Proof of the life-or-death emergency such as a death certificate, a statement from a mortuary, or a signed letter from a hospital or medical professional.
Documents must be in English or translated in English. And a proof of international travel (itinerary, ticket, reservation) specific to the emergency.
