Men of the Imo state police command have repelled an attack on Mbieri police station allegedly carried out by suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra/ Eastern Security Network today April 1.
The hoodlums were said to have thrown Improvised Explosive Devices into the station and shot sporadically before they were overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the combat-ready police operatives, forcing them to retreat in panic, escaping in their vehicle.
Due to the hot exchange by the police, only minimal damage was done to a parked unserviceable vehicle and some windows due to the effect of the Explosive, no life was lost or injury sustained by the operatives and no arms/ ammunition was charted away.
Confirming this to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, CSP Michale Abattam, said investigation is on going and efforts are on to arrest fleeing hoodlums
