The Lagos state police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has asked a Nigerian man to delete his tweet after it was discovered that he raised a false alarm about a robbery incident on 3rd mainland bridge.
The Twitter user @Orllayinka had tweeted about an ongoing robbery incident on the bridge last night May 3. He wrote;
”Robbery going on on third mainland Bridge right now inwards ebute metta.
The robbery is towards oworonshoki They bloces the road with a truck, they’re all on bullet proof
I Don mute this tweet, we know what we saw and we were able to reverse with a couple of drivers, we saw bullet profs wearing people with gun. I’m sorry we couldn’t wait to confirm it was otherwise. If na cow people wey dey front see, we thank God. Just did what I felt I should”
Other Twitter users who plied the road immediately countered his claim. According to them, a stray cow was roaming the bridge and this caused commuters to slow down until they could carefully pass the cow. They denied claims of a robbery incident.
Benjamin who saw the tweet this morning called the Twitter user to delete his ”fake and panic-laden news”
