Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have killed two suspected kidnappers and arrested eight others in Alkaleri Local Government Area of the state.
Spokesperson of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, August 26, said the two kidnap victims were rescued during the raid operation.
“On 14th August 2022 at about 2030hrs a joint team of police operatives in conjunction with a local vigilante group led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Maina-Maji Divisional Headquarters swiftly raided a suspected kidnapper’s hideout and neutralized two suspected kidnappers,” the PPRO stated.
He listed the suspects arrested by the operatives as Ali Ibrahim (20), Manu Abdullahi (30), Damina Musa (22), Yusuf Mohammed (32), Buba Abdu (25), Buba Sulaiman (22), Isah Manu (25) and Kabiru Alhaji Sa’adu (26), all of Yelwan Duguri area of Alkaleri LGA.
Two kidnappers Abdusalam and Usman Alhaji Dadi, 28, were certified dead by a medical doctor while one of the arrested suspects, Kabiru Alhaji Sa’adu, is recuperating.
“The operation led to the release of one Alhaji Samaila ‘M’ age 70yr-old of Gayar Mukal village of Alkaleri LGA,”
“Furthermore, four motorcycles were recovered as exhibits from the suspected kidnappers. During the investigation, the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime
“Equally, the Commissioner of Police directed that the case be transferred to SCID for discreet investigation,” he added.
In another development, in line with the community policing and intelligence-led policing, on August 23, at about 0030hrs, operatives of the command acting on credible intelligence in conjunction with a local vigilante group swiftly swung into action and engaged suspected kidnappers at Durr village via Dass LGA Bauchi State.
“Subsequently, the operatives succeeded in rescuing one Hussaina Mustapha Alias “Biyu” ‘f’ aged 45yrs of Durr village unhurt and reunited with her family. During the encounter, the suspected kidnappers took to their heels into the nearby bush. Meanwhile, the Command is intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” the statement added.
While commending the effort of the police operatives, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mamman Sanda, equally encouraged members of the public to continue to dedicate themselves to sharing useful information with the Police.
