Manchester United football legend, Rio Ferdinand has claimed that Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe is a mix between the Brazilian Ronaldo and Thierry Henry.
Mbappe provided a top performance with a superb solo goal as PSG beat Juventus 2-1 in the Champions League.
Ferdinand feels that Mbappe’s pace, flair, and finishing ability mean that he can be compared to two of the standout strikers of the past.
Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said: ‘I think he’s more of a product of a mix between Ronaldo (R9) and Thierry Henry. A little bit. I might be taking it back too far, but it’s a great mix to be in! Imagine being that mix.’
Joe Cole agrees that Mbappe possesses similar characteristics to Ronaldo and Arsenal legend Henry.
Cole also believes that Mbappe is capable of achieving ‘anything’ given his quality and stressed that the 23-year-old can do things that no other player can do.
Cole said: ‘He’s so explosive, he’s the most exciting player in world football now without a doubt. He can do things that no other player can do – the pace and power, I absolutely love him.
‘I think it’s a great analogy R9 and Henry, because he is a cross between – that’s a massive compliment. If he stays fit which is a big if and carries on the way he’s going he can do anything I mean what a player.’
Mbappe has scored 18 goals in as many appearances for PSG in all competitions so far this season.
